Obituary of Bessie Andrews
ANDREWS , Bessie “Janet”- age 91 of Lanesville. The family of Janet Andrews sadly announce her peaceful passing in the Palliative Care Unit of the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro on October 28, 2018.
Born in Harrigan Cove on April 13, 1927, she was the youngest daughter of the late William and Bessie (Bezanson) Hartling.
Mom was a teacher in her younger years, having taught at the one room schools in Sambro and Ketch Harbour. Moving to Lanesville after marrying our Dad, she lovingly raised the four of us, watched her grandchildren grow to become responsible young adults, and the absolute joy in seeing her great grandchildren. Mom was a loving mother grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister and friend.
She is survived by her children, Carol (Richard) Sibley, Wittenburg; Leonard (Patsy), Dartmouth; Ronnie (Jackie), Stewiacke; Vicki (Peter) Sutherland, Lanesville; grandchildren, Anita (Kirk), Calgary, AB; Kirk (Tanya), Upper Musquodoboit; Jason (Cody), Coldbrook; Tanya (Amanda), Antigonish; Melissa (Chris), Montreal, PQ; Nick (Jen) Coteau-du-Lac, PQ; Buddy Truro; Shane (Brittany), Upper Onslow; BJ (Kera), Indiana; Brandi, Calgary, AB; great grandchildren, Ethan, Savanah, Oliver, Elena, Camden, Isaac and Christopher; brother Bill, Kingston, ON; sister in law, Evie, Blackville, NB; many much loved nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Doug; daughter, Judy; brothers, Arthur, Everette, Robert and Edgar; sister, Ellen Crowe.
A special thank you to Alma for all your help over the last few years, Debbie and the girls who allowed Mom to have that last week at home and Dr. Lionel Hindler for all your understanding and care.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 6:30-8:30pm Thursday, November 1 in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie from where a funeral service will take place at 4:30pm Friday, November 2, Rev. Carl Fraser officiating. Reception to follow at the Stewiacke Royal Canadian Legion.
