Obituary of Bernard MacNeil
Bernard Daniel MacNeil, 80, of Antigonish, passed away Monday, June 11, 2018 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital. Born in Iona, he was a son of the late R.J. and Sarah Lucy (MacNeil) MacNeil.
Bernie was raised in Iona and moved to Antigonish as a young man, where he worked at the West End Market, Floyds Construction and drove taxi. He was an enthusiastic sports fan and follower of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays. Bernie loved a good game of cribbage, and loved a good Scottish tune.
Surviving are daughter Melanie (Albert) DeYoung, Pomquet, sons Bernard (Heather Cameron), Fall River, Darcy, Antigonish. Bernie had 6 grandchildren with whom he loved with all his heart; Connor, Eammon, Keegan, Chloe, Ava and Rhett, numerous nieces and nephews and former wife Janet (Haley) MacNeil.
He was predeceased by sisters Mary, Dina, Catty, and brother Dodi.
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 pm Thursday, June 14, 2018. Funeral Mass 11:00 am Friday, June 15, in St. Ninian’s Cathedral, Rev. Donald MacGillivray presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery.
