Bernard Sharpe
1931-2018
The family is saddened to announce the passing of Bernard
Sharpe at Windsor Court in Fredericton, New Brunswick on November 29,
2018. Born in Gordonsville, New Brunswick on February 22,
1931, he was the son of the late Roy and Hazel (Fawcett)
Sharpe.
Bernard moved to Fredericton as a young man in the
1950’s to start his career as an electrician. He married his
sweetheart, Marjorie, in 1958 and bought a home on York Street. Many
boarders have fond memories of their years staying at the Sharpe home
while they attended university or college. Bernard and Marjorie raised
their two children in Fredericton, and always had an open door for
visiting friends and relatives.
Bernard retired as Chief Electrical Inspector from the
provincial government in 1996. He was known for his generosity and
kindness, readily volunteering his time to do electrical jobs for
friends and family, snow blow his neighbors’ driveways, or
mow their lawns.
Bernard is survived by his children, Darrell (Raymonde) and
Carol (David Urquhart), his grandchildren, his brother
Armand (Doreen), as well as many extended family and
friends.
In addition to his parents, Bernard was predeceased by his
wife Marjorie (Pollock), his brother Albert (Florence), sisters Jennie
Trainor (John), Rena McGroty (Frank), Pearl Willison (Charles), and
Anna Pratt (Guy).
A visitation will be held at McAdams Funeral Home on
Saturday, December 1, from 12- 2 pm, with the Funeral Service starting
at 2 pm. Steve Shultz, Eric Lockhart and Dianne Anderson will be
officiating. A reception will follow the service. Donations in
Bernard’s name can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society
(N.B), or Meals On Wheels.
