COALBURN/MCGRATH’S MOUNTAIN – Bernard Daniel Francis “Bernie” McGrath, 86, Coalburn and McGrath’s Mountain, passed away peacefully, Saturday, May 19, 2018.
Born on McGrath’s Mountain, he was a son of the late Margaret Theresa McGrath. In earlier years, he was employed in forestry, working in the forest and local sawmills. Prior to retirement, Bernie was employed as a welder with the former Trenton Works. He was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Lismore and enjoyed going to dances. For Bernie, life has changed; not ended!
Surviving are brothers, Kelly (Simone), LaVerne, Calif.; Vernon (Marlene), Broadway; James, McGrath’s Mountain; brother-in-law, Kent “Bubs”, Linacy; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his mother, Theresa, he was predeceased by his “second mother”, Catherine (John Peter); sister, Betty; brothers, Dan and Vincent.
In keeping with Bernie’s wishes, a public graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2018 in St. Andrew’s Cemetery, Egerton.
Donations may be made in Bernie’s memory to St Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Lismore.
Special thank you to Bernie’s neighbour, Josie, for looking after him for many years.
