It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Benard (Ben) Duncan. Predeceased by his parents, Ada and Benjamin Duncan and sister, Penny. He leaves behind his loving wife of 61 years, Barbara; son, Donald (Monica); and daughter, Deborah (Donny). He will be dearly missed by his nieces, Susan (Larry), Brenda (Gary), Jodi (Mike), Lynn (Bruce) and nephew, Dave (Dixie), along with his only grandchild, Jonathan (Isabelle).
Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Ben joined the RCMP and trained in Ottawa, Ontario. Ben moved to Vancouver, met Barb and married in 1957. With many transfers of his job, their final move was to Vancouver Island where Ben retired as Staff Sergeant with the Burnaby Detachment.
Ben was a Chartered Member of the RCMP Vets Association and was fully involved with the Masonic Lodge and Shriners. He also earned his Scottish Rights and Royal Arch Degrees.
He loved to cook at the Shriner’s pancake breakfast, hot dogs for the Shriners on Canada Day and the fish fry in Lantzville.
There will be a Celebration of Life at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 in the Allsbrook Room of Yates Memorial Services, 1000 Allsbrook Road, Parksville. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Shriners.
