Barry Clark Buchanan
1949-2018
Barry Clark Buchanan – 69, of North
Alton, Kings County, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving
family on Monday, December 17, 2018 in the QEII Health Sciences
Centre, Halifax. Born in Kentville on June 21, 1949, he was a son of
the late Roy and Mabel (Bell) Buchanan. Barry was a graduate of KCA
and ventured into Forestry at UNB before leaving to pursue his passion
for the railroad. He spent 27 years working as a conductor and
brakeman for CPR and VIA rail. Barry was employed with the Shortline
for the Windsor and Hantsport Railway until his illness in 1996. Barry
enjoyed his time working at Plank Industries where he enjoyed
socializing with staff and friends. Many thanks go out to the caring
staff at the Plank for their great care and concern for Barry, as well
as his good friend Avon. Barry had a love for the railroad, hunting,
fishing and family. He made many memories during his times spent at
Gaspereau Lake and his hunting camp. Barry enjoyed family gatherings
and will be remembered for always having a smile on his
face. Those who knew Barry knew they could never beat him at
a game of cards. Left with fond and loving memories are his dedicated
and supporting wife of 42 years, Mary (Barnes) Buchanan; sons, Adam
(Heidi); Josh (Matteo) and Jordan. Papa Buck will be greatly missed by
his grandson, Hayden, and granddaughters, Marley and Journey. He is
also survived by several nieces and nephews and was predeceased by a
