1948-2018
Barbara Christine “Barb”
Atkinson – 69, Bible Hill, passed away peacefully,
surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday evening, April 10, 2018,
at the home of her daughter in Halifax. Born in Bible Hill, she was a
daughter of the late Everett Matthew “Red” and
Miriam Evelyn (Langille) Varner.
Barb is survived by her children, Cindy (David) Canning,
Halifax; Donna (Robert) Ackles, Bible Hill; grandchildren, Steven,
Sam, Amy, Robert, DJ, Melissa; great grandchildren, Sadie,
Dawson, Jacob, Mason; sisters, Jeanette Webb, Bible Hill; Juanita
McCabe, Bible Hill; Marie (Harry) Bryan, Harmony; several nieces and
nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband,
Claude Atkinson; sisters, June Taylor, Edna Forbes, Evelyn McNeil;
brother, Ed Varner.
Barb was well-known for her love of Christmas and will be
lovingly remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and
friend.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Barb’s
family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m., Friday, April 13, 2018.
Interment will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at Bible Hill
Cemetery, Warren Drive, Bible Hill. Family flowers only. If so
desired, donations in Barb’s memory to Lung Association of
Nova Scotia are welcomed. Private messages of condolence may be sent
