Obituary of Aurette McGarrity
McGARRITY, Aurette Lucille Ann – At Bluewater Health on Monday, August 21, 2018, Aurette McGarrity died at the age of 90. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Philip McGarrity (2003). Loving mother of John McGarrity and the late Michael McGarrity (2013). Dear sister of Clair VanderWalt & her husband Eric, Nepean. Sister-in-law of Joan Belanger and Margaret McGarrity, Predeceased by her parents Hormasdas & Yvonne Belanger & her brothers Gerald Belanger & “Blackie” Loel Belanger. Aurette was a loving wife and mother. She was a Registered Nurse for many years and the library assistant at Our Lady of Mercy School for 14 years. Aurette was very community minded. She was a long time member of the Catholic Women’s League. An avid and talented painter, Aurette was a member of the Sarnia Artist Workshop. Her love of gardening gave her great joy. Visitation will be held Monday, August 27, 2018 from 3-5 p.m. at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 28th at 1:30 p.m. Cremation to follow with Interment at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery on Friday, August 31st at 1 p.m. As an expression of sympathy friends who wish may send memorial donations to St. Vincent DePaul Society, 106 East St., Sarnia, N7T 7H9 or the Inn of the Good Shepherd, 115 John St., Sarnia, N7T 2R1.
