Obituary Overview
Audrey W. McIntyre
Passed away on
October 9, 2018 at the age of 88 years. She was predeceased by her parents Mary
and Don McIntyre; her sisters Beth, Eline, and her brothers Douglas, Lloyd, and
Ronald. Surviving is her sister Yvonne Martin and many nieces and nephews.
Audrey was born in Swan River,
Manitoba. At the age of 11, she moved with her family to Winnipeg, where she
continued her education at Laura Secord and Gordon Bell schools. In 1949, she
obtained a teaching certificate from the Winnipeg normal school. A varied
career in teaching included Manitoba towns of Ashern, Whitemouth, and Bisset;
Fort Frances, Ontario; D.N.D. schools in Germany; and many years with the
Winnipeg School Division.
Art, drama and literature were her
favorite teaching subjects. She especially enjoyed creating back drops,
designing costumes, and directing school concerts. She had many memories of
talented students and wonderful performances.
After retirement in 1990, she
continued to travel for many years as well as participating in oil painting
classes and piano lessons. Many hours were spent in compiling photographs and
records of the McIntyre’s – sometimes known as the McIntyre Chronicles.
Respecting Audrey’s wishes, a
graveside service and interment have taken place at Chapel Lawn Memorial
Gardens.
