Arnold Thomas Dunn
1930-2018
Arnold Dunn of Moncton passed
away peacefully, surrounded by members of his family, at The Moncton
Hospital on Friday, March 9,
2018.
Born in Fords Mills, NB
February 27, 1930 to Edith and Kent Dunn. He was one of nine
siblings.
He was affectionately known by
his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as
Papa.
Arnold is survived by his wife
Catharine and children Kathy Cavanaugh Leger (Conrad) of Moncton,
Kevin (Lynn Estey) of Miramichi, Robert (Rhonda) and Rick (Cindy) of
Moncton; step-children Karen (Dana) Dickinson, Dana (Elena) Andrews
and Robert (Michelle) Andrews; grandchildren Christa, Ashley, Jaime,
and Courtney; step-grandchildren Sarah, David, Daniel, Teagan, Kaiti,
Carley, Catharine, Keaton, Nathanial and Christopher; great
grandchildren Ella, MacKenzie, Lincoln Arnold, Charlotte, Charles,
Jeremiah and Abigail; step-great grandchildren Aria, Winston and
Gavin; brother Ken and sisters Dorothy and
Bessie.
He was predeceased by his
parents Kent and Edith Dunn; brothers Cameron, Charlie and Robert;
sisters Lillian and Eileen; step-daughter Pamela and
step-granddaughter Lauren.
Arnold was a very proud
retiree of Manulife. He thoroughly enjoyed his many years with
Manulife and the hundreds of clients he serviced over the years, many
of which he considered to be friends and stayed in contact with beyond
his retirement. He enjoyed
travel to many Manulife conferences around the world and would often
reminisce about them. He was extremely proud to pass on his business
to his daughter Kathy and he continued to travel with her to visit
clients even after he retired. Prior to Manulife he worked for the T.
Eaton Company in Moncton.
Papa was a Charter Member, and
Past President, of the Hum Lew Sun Lions Club. He spent many years
involved in the club and was a dedicated supporter of their many
initiatives.
One of his greatest passions
was music and he spent many years in the St. John’s United
Church Choir. During some of these years he travelled and performed
around the region with his great friends Bob Alcorn, Harold Horncastle
and Gordon Cassidy. You could find them performing at a
senior’s home somewhere in NB on most Sunday afternoons
after they enjoyed lunch at Keddy’s after church. Arnold had
very fond memories of his time in the choir and singing his favourite
hymns. He came by his love of music at an early age. His mother and
father had great voices and enjoyed music, with his mother playing an
organ in the house.
Arnold was very proud of his
children, and grandchildren. In his retirement nothing brought him
more pleasure than spending time with his family. He was always there
to lend a hand, or an ear. Papa enjoyed every opportunity to get
together with family for a visit, dinner, or to tell a
story.
The family wishes to sincerely
thank the Doctors, Nurses and staff of the Moncton Hospital for the
amazing care they provided in his final days. You all cared for him
with great respect and
dedication.
