Remembered With Love
At home, on Tuesday September 18th, Arcadia fell asleep peacefully surrounded by all the love in the world. We are deeply saddened and grieving today, but later we know our memories will bring more laughter than tears as we recall all the happy moments we shared together.
Ading was the beloved wife and the one true love of Mel for 59 years; loving and proud mother to Meliza (Bobby), Mary Ann (Ed), Marilou (Roman) and Melinda (Dennis); wonderful and caring grandmother to Romel (Jana), Ryan, Samantha, Cory, Erika and Quentin; and doting great-grandmother to Evie and Emi. And let us not forget her two precious grand-dogs, Zoey and Remy.
Ading is also survived by her younger brother Oscar, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her Tatay Casio and Nanay Goneng, brother Nestor and youngest sister Naty, and her eldest child Mel Jr. who was stillborn.
Ading was a beautiful soul, so personable and likeable that she could befriend total strangers in a matter of minutes. Whether waiting in line at a busy airport, sitting around WEM waiting for Mel to finish bowling, or at some remote, little known hot springs near Fairmont, she would strike meaningful conversations.
She enjoyed the company of many friends — the bowling groups, Mel’s golfing and curling buddies, the Sunrise Village Condo gang. Thank you to all those who came to visit or called her, from near and far. Too numerous to mention here, but you all know who you are. We thank her special friends the Flores, the Briones, and Tita Julie for their love and support throughout her last few months, and before that.
We could not have gone through this challenging journey without the guidance and assistance of the Community Access Care Team of AHS Sherwood Park (Bonnie, Christina, Leah, Kelsey), Palliative Care Nurse Patricia, her home care aides (Mercedes, Susan, Elizabeth), her overnight caregiver Rhia, and her personal physician Dr. Lorraine Mann-Hosford who was there for her and the family every step of the way. You each played a valuable role in allowing us to honour Mama’s wish to stay home as long as possible. With your tremendous support, she passed away at home as she wished. You held our hands, answered every question, kept us calm when we were panicked, constantly reassured us we were doing everything right for our Mom. Our heartfelt thanks to each and everyone of you.
Thank you to the compassionate medical staff at Cross Cancer Institute and Grey Nuns Hospital who attended to Mom along the way — Dr. Tankel, Dr. Koski, Dr. Sample, Dr. Ingrid de Cock.
A special thank you also to our Tita Conching from Ottawa, who came here when Mama requested for her. Tita spent many weeks helping care for Mama, being her constant companion and personal chef. Needless to say, we all gained a few pounds.
Last but not least, we are truly blessed to have had our dearest Liberty by our side from the very beginning right to the end. You were our rock Lib, gifted to us when we needed you most. You were amazing, always going above and beyond. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you and we love you.

Mama, you were loved and you will always be loved. It will be difficult to fill the huge hole you’ve left. We will miss you every day for the rest of our lives. Thank you for sharing yourself unselfishly and loving us unconditionally. You are a great example to all your daughters of what a mother should be. Sleep well and we will see you again some day.
