Antoinette “Toni” Found-Murphy (nee Valiquette) passed away peacefully at age 97, in Edmonton on July 5th, 2018.
She was born in 1920 in a farm house between Morinville and Legal and was delivered by a Cree midwife. Toni was the youngest of 8 and was predeceased by brothers: Lionel, Armand, Henri, Albert, Laurier; sisters: Germaine and Bertha and son Donald. Toni married Dwight Found in 1940 in Yellowknife and they had three children, Antoinette “Tonie”, Donald “Don” and Robert “Bob” and lived in Yellowknife, McLennan and Morinville. Divorced in 1955 she was employed at the Morinville Bakery, then the Morinville Drugstore for $35 a week. In the early 1960’s she worked for Marie-Paule Ricard at Leo’s Variety Store, later buying the business and renaming it Toni’s Variety Store. Toni moved the business into a larger building near the old Royal Bank on Main Street, Morinville where she ran it until she retired. In 1984 she married Donald “Don” Murphy and together they lived in Morinville, travelling south to Arizona each winter.
Surviving her are husband Donald; daughter Antoinette; son Robert (Barbara); 9 grandchildren; 11 great, and 12 great-great grandchildren.
There will be no service, Interment of her ashes to take place in Morinville cemetery at a later date.
