Anthony “Tony” Hayek
February 25, 1925 – March 1, 2018
It is with sadness that the family of Tony Hayek announces his passing at the age of 93 years.
Tony will be lovingly remembered by his wife Helene (nee Fortier), his children Brian (Lesley), June (Bob) Lambert and Wanda Coates, grandchildren Christina (Cory) Gray, Ashley Coates (Tyler), Lisa Lambert (Matt) and Sarah (Nicholas) Kuehn, great-grandchildren Elijah, Cora, Gustav and Sigmund, sister Virgina Pineau, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son-in-law Ken, daughter-in-law Rose, brothers George, Stanley and Robert, and sisters Jenny Kunz and Dolly Dobush.
Born in St. Paul, USA, the family settled in Camp Morton, MB. Growing up on the farm were very formative years for Tony. He moved to Winnipeg and started working in research and development with Killbery/MacDon. He spent 37 years with the company.
Tony loved his faith, camping, square dancing and his family. He would do anything for his children, and often used his handyman skills when needed. He had a very gentle spirit and was loved by all who knew him.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Burrin Avenue, Winnipeg with Father Dominic Yuen celebrating. Interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to World Vision.
