It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Anne on February 08, 2018 at the age of 94. She is survived by her adoring daughters; Diane (Jerry) Perkins, Cynthia Kaptey (Rory Sallis), Janice (Ross) Farquhuar and Denise (Alan) MacDonald, grandchildren; Angelina, Nicole and Michelle and 7 great grandchildren. Her sister Nancy Keller and her brother William (Diana) Cherniwchan and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by her husband’s Ivan Kaptey and Steve Plytka, sister and brother in law Helen (William) Chmiliar, brother in law Lothar Keller, sister and brother in law Alice (Nick) Zacharuk, niece Sharon Zackaruk and nephew Kim Cherniwchan.
Anne was born July 20, 1923 in Willingdon, Alberta, to Tom and Mary Cherniwchan. She worked very hard on the farm and loved going to school. When she was 17 she moved to Edmonton to attend McTavish Business College. She worked at the Alberta Liquor Control Board until she married and started her family. The family lived in Sherwood Park. She worked fulltime for the Alberta Government and then at AVC nursing program. Divorcing in 1971 was a difficult time until she met Steve Plytka. They married in 1975 and she had the best years as they travelled extensively and made wonderful memories when they lived in Ladysmith, Vancouver Island. After Steve’s passing in 1982 she returned to Edmonton to be close to her family.
Mom was always busy. Her family was of ultimate priority and importance. She was an independent, self-reliant, strong and determined woman.
She was a wonderful mother, cook and hostess, homemaker, gardener, seamstress, artist and record keeper.
She loved her car and drove extensively across Canada, BC and the US on her own.
She volunteered many hours during her life for large city events and at the Camsell and Royal Alexandra Hospitals. Anne was a member of the Norwood Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Anne resided at Montgomery Legion Place until last year when she became injured after a fall and moved to the Zetter Centre.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Gerald Zetter Centre 3N for their care during this difficult time for our mom.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Highlands Golf Club at 6603 Ada Boulevard NW, Edmonton, AB.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Anne Plytka 2018.source
