OBITUARY
Ann Theresa Campbell-Goheen
Passed away on August 5, 2018
Ann Theresa Campbell-Goheen passed away on Sunday, August 5th, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer over the past 3 years.
Ann was the fourth of eight children born to James and Adelaide Campbell. Born and raised in Ontario, Ann loved to spend time in cottage country around Bancroft where she grew up.
Ann had many roles in her life including daughter, friend, nurse, sister, wife, mother, and most recently, “Nana”. She moved to Alberta in her early twenties and, after a few years working in Banff and Calgary, she eventually enrolled in the Nursing program at Mount Royal College. Ann had a kind and compassionate nature and a love for children, and devoted many years working as a pediatric nurse at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.
In 1992, Ann (“Annabelle”) married her husband Brent Goheen and within a few short years, they had a house full of children. While she went above and beyond in all aspects of her life, her most cherished role was being a mother to her children Katherine, Liam, Aidan and Callum, as well as her pups, Sam and Calvin. Ann’s children were her entire world and her love for them was palpable. They could always count on her to be an attentive listener or a comforting shoulder to cry on. She was incredibly thoughtful and always outdid herself to make every birthday and holiday special for her family. She opted to work part-time as a nurse so she could be a full-time Mom to her kids.
Anyone who knew Ann knows that she was a stunningly beautiful woman both inside and out. She had a pure and beautiful spirit that has been passed on to her wonderful children, with each of them embodying her essence in their own unique way.
Ann was incredibly proud that all four of her children pursued higher education. With the kids off to university and pursuing their careers, Ann and Brent took advantage of their time together to travel to the Okanagan, Europe, the Maritimes and México. Ann had a list of places she wanted to see and made a valiant effort to visit as many of those places as possible over the past 3 years.
In March 2018, Ann’s daughter Katherine and her husband Tyler welcomed a baby girl, Ella Annabelle Lowe, and Ann fulfilled her much awaited role as Nana. Ella is the gift that her Nana had wished for, and they brought each other so much love and light in the 4 short months they had together.
Ann had a zest for life and an ability to look at everything in a positive light. She was the kindest and most genuine person we have ever known.
At Ann’s request, we will be hosting a garden party to celebrate her life and would love for you to join us, if possible, Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at our home, (43 Mountain Park Circle SE, Calgary). We encourage everyone to dress for a celebration rather than funeral, as an ode to Ann’s joyful spirit.
We hope that you can join us as we celebrate and remember our beautiful Annabelle.
If friends and family so desire, in honour of Ann’s love for animals, a donation can be made to Pawsitive Match Rescue Foundation, (pawsitivematch.org/).
