Obituary of Andy Wenhardt
On Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at Westmount Gardens, London, Andy Wenhardt, of St. Thomas, passed away at the age of 80. Beloved husband for 21 years to Susan Imre. Cherished father of Eva Knowler of Chatham and Erica Griffin of Woodstock. Dear grandfather of Karen Griffin of London, Jamie Adams of Calgary, Alberta, Ryan Knowler of Dresden and Richard Brown of Newmarket. Missed by several great-grandchildren. Predeceased by Eva Hill (November 2017). Andy was born on May 28, 1937 in Bikacs, Hungary. He immigrated to Canada in 1957, settling in Aylmer, Ontario. He began working in tobacco, construction and owned and operated Eva’s Beauty Salon in Aylmer as well as three women’s clothing stores in St. Thomas, Tillsonburg and Aylmer. Most recently, Andy achieved his dream of owning and operating his own Travel Agency, Aylmer Travel Bureau. Andy was active in his community through coaching men’s travel soccer in Aylmer. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Aylmer, the German Canadian Club of Aylmer and the Aylmer Curling Club. Andy led a very social lifestyle and came to know many people through these associations. He was also an avid fisherman and curler. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the CASO Station, 750 Talbot Street, St. Thomas, Ontario, on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Denning’s Ltd.
