Andrew Simon Porter
Andrew Simon Porter, resident of Grande Prairie, formerly of High Level, AB, passed away on Friday, September 7, 2018, at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, at the age of 54 years.
Andy was born August 5, 1964 in St. John’s, NL, and moved to High Level, AB in 1980. In 2011, he moved to Grande Prairie and worked for Jenn Trucking until his passing.
He loved fishing and working on his vehicles (especially his white truck) and helping others. He didn’t have one hobby, everything he touched was a hobby.
Andy will be sadly missed by his wife, partner, and friend of 37 years Wanda Porter; children: Blair (Patricia), Jamie, Andrew, Ashley, and Victoria (Justin); grandchildren: Easton, Calleigh, Carter, Carleigh, and Damon, all his pride and joy; sisters: Daphne (Kevin) Parsons, Holly (Wallace) Jewer, and Cynthia (Earl) Coombs; in-laws Wade (Brenda) Parsons, John (Amanda) Parsons, Junior (Brenda) Parsons, Terry (Sandra) Parsons, Michelle (Derick) French, and Sherry (Ramsey) Gosse; as well as numerous family, friends and coworkers.
He was predeceased by his parents William and Mary Porter, in-laws Frank and Muriel Parsons, and brother in-law Glen Parsons.
A Memorial Gathering will be held Wednesday, September 12, 2018, from 3:00-5:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).
Memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke of Alberta (Unit 109, 10126 120 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 8H9).
