Obituary Overview
André Joseph Desrochers
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of André Joseph Desrochers, beloved husband of Jeanne(Morin) on Sunday January 28 2018 at St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 92. Besides his loving wife Jeanne, Dad is survived by his 5 children Viviane(Matt Walls), Lucille, Raymond(Diane Alarie), Colette(Rob Jamieson) and Lise(Ernest Gautron). Pépère is also survived by his 9 grandchildren, Julie (David) and Patrick Walls(Tyra); Lisa Beaudin and Natalie Rutherford(Ryan); Marc, Nicole(Li), Lianne(Stefan) and Christine Desrochers(Loic); and Ryan Alpers(Emma). Pépère was also blessed with two great grandchildren, Audrey Kaytor and Maylin Li. Also left to mourn his passing is his sister Lilianne Boulet(Aime) and brother Antonin(Fernande), many sister and brother in-laws in Jeanne’s family as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. André was predeceased by his infant daughter Claudette, his parents Alphonse and Nora(Chalifoux), 6 siblings, and son in-law Gary Beaudin.
André was born on November 09 1925 in Mariapolis MB. He married Jeanne Morin on his birthday in 1948 and they were happily married for over 69 years. They moved to Winnipeg for jobs and to raise their children, primarily residing in Windsor Park.
Hard working and setting a great example for the family, André worked at Interprovincial Co-op for 28 years. In 1976, Mom and Dad bought a cottage at Wallace Lake and there became the special family meeting place and is still today. André loved to fish and would be out on the lake whenever possible.
Mom and Dad took many trips – across Canada, several southern States, Mexico, Cuba, Roatan, Portugal, Morocco and Spain…The highlight was for their 60th wedding anniversary celebration, the whole family, children and grandchildren spent a week in Playa Del Carmen….precious memories!
Mom and Dad moved to 400 Des Meurons in 1994 where they made new friends and participated in the many activities. André was particularly proud of his garden(super fantastic tomatoes!) and enjoyed a good game of cards. André was also an expert wine maker and provided many bottles to his family.
André was a gentle kind man. He loved his family very much, a devoted partner to his Jeanne, he was always willing to lend a hand to his kids or take care of a grandchild. He will be deeply missed.
The family would like to thank St. Boniface Hospital Cardiology staff for their compassion and outstanding care to Papa André in the last week.
In lieu of flowers, should one desire, a donation can be made to the Heart Foundation or the charity of their choice.
A service will take place on Saturday morning February 03 at St. Boniface Cathedral, 180 avenue de la Cathedrale. Viewing 9:30, Eulogy 9:45, Funeral Service 10:00.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Andre Joseph Desrochers 2018.source
