1936-2018
Alton Franklin Smith, 82, of Moncton passed away peacefully
on September 2nd, 2018 at the Moncton Hospital.
Al was born in Humphreys Mills, NB on July 29th, 1936 the
son of the late Stanley and Nora (William)
Smith.
He worked as a cement finisher and was a hard worker who
took great pride in his work. He had a special place in his heart for
animals and loved his pets, especially his dogs. He also got
a lot of enjoyment watching his fish. He was known for his
flower garden and was always willing to share his beautiful
flowers. During his last days he was laughing and joking
with the nurses and felt blessed to be comforted by his good friends
who stayed with him till he made the journey to his eternal
home. May he rest in peace.
He is survived by his children, Stanley Smith (Tanya),
Shirley “Serenity” Smith, Michael Bruce Smith (Cathy) and
Sharon Matchett (Scott); his several grandchildren and great
grandchildren; brother, Ronald Smith; step-brother, Clarence
“Junior” Stillman and by his good friends and caretakers,
Terry Bourque and Venette Godbout. He will also be missed by
several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his step-father,
Clarence “Buster” Stillman; brothers, Stanley, Garnet;
sisters, Shirley and Loretta; and by his fur baby (his pug),
Sheena.
Honouring Al’s own wishes there will be no
visitation. A graveside service will take place in the
Bayview Cemetery, Harvey, Albert County, NB on Wednesday, September
5th, 2018 at 4:00pm.
For those who wish donations to the charity of your choice
in memory of Alton would be appreciated.
