ALLAN Robert ‘Bob’ Gordon February 9 1943 – June 22 2018

ALLAN, Robert ‘Bob’ Gordon
February 9, 1943 – June 22, 2018
Robert Gordon Allan born February 9, 1943 in Calgary Alberta, passed away after a short battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was a highly respected member of the Calgary Fire Department for 30 years, and enjoyed an active fun-filled life since retiring from CFD in 1995. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Valerie, his son, Mike Allan and his wife Jodie, his daughter Carolyn Allan and her fiancé Mark. He also leaves behind the pride of his life his five adoring grandchildren Dana and Ethan Allan, and Kalen, Connor, and Hannah Ellefson, his much loved sister Lorraine and her husband Bob Miles, his brother Dick, and his sister in law Joy Allan, numerous loving nieces and nephews, and countless dear friends. Bob was predeceased by his Mom and Dad, Muriel and William Allan, and his big brother Bill Allan of Kelowna.
Bob was the rock of our close knit family. He loved us with his whole heart every day of his life. His wife Valerie was at his side since they first were introduced by their best friends Barry and Judy Lyons in 1966. They enjoyed a life time of love, fun, travel, block parties, karaoke nights with dear friends, and music together. He was so proud of his son Mike and daughter Carolyn who were his pride and joy. He was overjoyed with the birth of each of his grandchildren. Dana – his scholar, Ethan – his comedian, Kalen – his fellow truck enthusiast, Connor – his partner in crime, and Hannah Rae his right hand girl. He was the best father, the best son, the best grandpa, the best friend, best brother and most importantly the best husband. We learned from the best and will continue your legacy of kindness, compassion, and love for each other that he taught us every day of our lives.
Our family would like to extend our sincere thanks to the High River Palliative Care Team and the High River Palliative Home Care Team for their kindness while he was at home. Heartfelt gratitude to AHS Paramedics Cliff and Karen, who went above and beyond the call of duty to provide end of life care in the home and transport to Foothills Country Hospice who in turn allowed Bob to continue to be at peace as he gently passed.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Foothills Country Hospice Society (www.countryhospice.org).
Bob’s wish was that we celebrate his life with music and drinks in lieu of a funeral. Please join us to raise a glass and share a song in his honour at the High River Legion Branch 71 on Saturday June 30, 2018 from 2pm – 5pm. Dress is casual.
