Obituary for
Allan Platt
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing from this life of Allan Platt, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He will be greatly missed.
Allan was born in Innisfail, AB, and grew up on a farm near Olds, AB. He attended high school in Red Deer, AB, where he met his future wife, Peggie. After high school he joined the Bank of Montreal where he worked for 12 years. Following this he attended the University of Alberta where he earned a Bachelor of Commerce (with Distinction) and a Masters degree in Business Administration. Upon graduation he joined the staff in the finance department at NAIT where he stayed until his retirement in 2001.
Allan was very helpful to family and friends, often taking on building and repair, and other helpful deeds. He was a very independent person, doing things himself and not requesting help from others. A man of immense energy and strength, he did major renovations to the family home and built a wonderful cedar-lined two-storey cottage at Lake Isle. In recent years when he could no longer take on major projects, family and friends sought his advice on many things, and he was generous in providing it.
Left to honor him are his wife, Peggie; daughter, Cindy Kemper; son, Ryan Platt and his wife, Delyn; daughter, Suzanne Richardson and her husband, James and their four children (grandchildren), Isabelle, Owen, Savannah, and Chloe; sister, Marilyn Beveridge, her husband Brian, and son Chad; sister in law, Jacqueline Worthington, her son, Rob Worthington and his wife, Challan; as well as many good friends.
Cremation will take place at Park Memorial Funeral Home in Edmonton. Inurnment at Alto Reste Cemetery in Red Deer, AB. A private family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada, Prairies/Territories Office, 1212 – 31 Avenue NW, Calgary, AB, T2E 7S8 – www.llscanada.org
