Alberta Jean Bogart
Died at Belleville General Hospital on March 26, 2018, 9 days before her 97th birthday. Born in Lachine, Québec, Jean Hunter was the second youngest of a family of six children. She was predeceased by Elizabeth at a young age; Bill (Lillian, Dorothy, Gertrude), the first child, lived into his 91st year; Wynne (Don Fogg) lived to 106, until her death last September; Doug (Babs) lived until his 88th year; Margaret (John Harris), the youngest, died at 92. Their children, David (Wendy [1997], Pauline) and Linda; her grandchildren Jennifer Kroetsch (David), Claire Bloom (Jeff) and James Caldwell; her 5 great grandchildren Evan and Braeden Kroetsch and Hannah, James and Aly Bloom; and Jean’s many nieces and nephews all have numerous fond memories of her warm hospitality, her musical talent and her love of friends and family. A member of St. Paul’s United Church, Stirling for 50 years, Jean provided many years of leadership to the Stirling Festival of Sacred Praise, as well as serving as organist at St. Paul’s. She was also invited to play the organ at the annual pilgrimage services at the Old Hay Bay Church by virtue of Evan’s descent from one of the founding families. She was a faithful member of women’s fellowships in Lachine, Don Mills and Stirling. On April 4th, 2018, at 2:00 p.m., there will be a celebration of her life at St. Paul’s United Church, (104 Church Street, Stirling, Ontario K0K 3E0. Phone: 613-395-3379). Visitation at the church will be possible one hour before the service and there will be a reception at the church after.
