Albert Smith a long time resident of Armstrong passed away with his children at his side on June 29, 2018, at the age of 96. He was born in Hubbard Saskatchewan on June 25, 1922 into the loving home of Jack and Wanda Schmidt. At the age of 16 he moved to the BC coast to be a faller and where he met and married the love of his life Emma Bigler. He then moved to Armstrong in 1948 and resided on the family farm for the 65 years.
Albert will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Carolina (Tony) Mazzuca, and his 2 sons Lyle (Ellie) Smith and Gary (Leah) Smith as well as his grandchildren Gina (Tony) Pino, Dean (Wendy) Mazzuca, Liana (Justin) Sousa, Steffan (Helena) Smith, Melissa (Harly) Penner, Tyler (Shannon) Smith, Tiffany (Lee) Polson, and Dyllan Bowie. Albert was preceded in death by his wife Emma in 2011. His living legacy also includes 11 great grandchildren.
Albert worked in a local sawmill and did field custom work while running a small dairy farm. He sent many hours on the tractor and combine. For fun Albert enjoyed the outdoors. He would go snowmobiling in the winter months and in the summer, fishing and camping with Emma at the local lakes. If he was not fishing he enjoyed his morning coffee at the local coffee shops each morning to listen and tell stories. Albert loved to play his fiddle and was a member for many years of the Vernon Old Time Fiddlers. He also loved to get together and have musical jam sessions with his pals. He continued to play his fiddle till into his early nineties.
Funeral will take place at the Alternative Funeral location in 2980 Smith Drive, Armstrong. B. C. on July 4, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. A small reception to follow.
