Alfred Joseph Ovila Ouellette, soulmate and husband of Helen (Demeurichy) for 19 years passed away at the Chatham-Kent Hospice with his family by his side on Thursday July 26, 2018. He will be missed by his children JP Ouellette & Arden of Burlington, Kristen Ouellette & Steve of Ottawa and Allison Kloostra & Ken of Erieau. He was predeceased by their mother Gail Ouellette in 2014.
Al was born in Sudbury, the son of the late Annette & Alfred Ouellette Sr. He was one of six children and is survived by his sisters Rose Alma Sottile & Phil of Niagara Falls and Carmel Connelly of Courtice as well as his sisters in law Anna, Phyllis and Linda Ouellette all of Sudbury. He was predeceased by his brothers Don, Gerald and Claude.
Al was a long time employee of Navistar which was followed by a time at Southwestern Regional Centre where he retired in 2006. On July 3, 1999 he married Helen and his family grew to include her children Chris Cunningham & Billy Jo and Matthew Cunningham & Carlin both of Blenheim, a new sister-in-law Betty Anne Smith & George Szatori of Blenheim and a brother-in-law, Jack Demeurichy who passed away in 2014.
Al & Helen’s lives were made complete with the addition of their grandchildren Madeline, Ben, Max and Sam Ouellette, Jacob Ward, Keaton and Archer Kloostra, and Jolee, Miller, Max and Henry Cunningham. He will be missed by several nieces and nephews.
Al was proud to have been the President of the Chatham Jaycees from 1976-1977.
It was his wish that following cremation, a time of visitation be held and then an invitation be extended to his family and friends to gather at the Blenheim Royal Canadian Legion Branch 185 where he was a member for many years. In keeping with those wishes, friends are invited to the Blenheim Community Funeral Home on Tuesday July 31, 2018 from 2 – 5 p.m. Al’s Celebration of Life will then continue then at the Blenheim Legion from 5 – 7 p.m.
Friends wishing to remember Al with a memorial donation are asked to consider the C-K Hospice or the Cancer Society.
