Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory
Surrounded by his loving family, Adrian Van Straalen passed away on August 10 at Holland Christian Homes at the age of 88. Originally from Wognum, Netherlands, Adrian immigrated to Canada in 1955 where he settled in Carlisle, Ontario. He was one of 11 children born to the late Nicolas and Margaret Van Straalen and was the beloved husband of Lia Van Straalen for over 59 years. Adrian will forever be cherished by his loving brothers and sisters Nico, Alie, Tiny (now deceased), Annie, Louis, Ria, Jan, Piet, Toos and Nelly, beloved children Margaret Peck, Caroline, Rosemary and Brian Van Straalen, treasured grandchildren Adam and Lauren Waldbillig, Darren Peck, Tyler and Maddie Yaphe, along with countless other friends and family who were blessed to know him. Adrian will be remembered as a delightful storyteller who loved life, had a great sense of humor, a warm smile and was always prepared to offer others support and friendship. He touched the lives of many people and will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held at GLEN OAKS FUNERAL HOME, 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville (Ninth Line & Dundas St E) on Tuesday August 14, 2018 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. Funeral Service will following in the Chapel at 1:00 pm. Burial to follow at Trafalgar Lawn Cemetery, 1149 Dundas St W, Oakville. In lieu of flowers a donation to Parkinson Canada would be greatly appreciated by the family. Please leave a online condolence in the Guestbook.
