Cork Calkins passed away on June 2, 2018 at the age of 89 years. Cork was born in Ponoka and was raised in Lacombe. He married Adeline “Addie” Mickey in 1948 and they had three children: Bob, Debby and Lorie. Cork was predeceased by Adeline in 2017.
He is survived by children, Bob (Joan), Debby (Dean) Watkiss, and Lorie (Stan) Schulmeister; grandchildren, Stacey (Ken) Davidson, Clarke (Kelly) Watkiss, Sarah (Nigel) Watkiss, Warren (Alisa) Schulmeister, and Clinton Schulmeister; eight great grandchildren; brother, Wesley; brothers-in-law, Jack Morgan and Frank Mickey; sisters-in-law, Jackie Calkins and Lorraine (Bud) Venables; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. Cork is predeceased by brothers, Jack (Barb) and Allan; sisters, Beth (Hap) Bates and Joan Morgan; sisters-in-law Eva (Arvid) Erickson and Marg Mickey.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Bethany Care Sylvan Lake and at the Centennial Centre Ponoka for their expert care.
An informal come-and-go Funeral Gathering will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church CE Hall, 5226 – 51 Avenue, Lacombe on Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
