Mary Kehler Nee Leppky 2018

Obituary Overview
Mary Kehler (Nee Leppky)
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our dear mother and grandmother on December 26, 2018 at the age of 93.
Mary was the first of four children in her family, born to John and Mary Leppky of Niverville in 1925. She worked on her parents’ farm until she married Peter Funk and moved to a small farm in nearby Tourond. They had two children. Later, they moved to Steinbach where Mary worked as a restaurant cook until she retired at 64 years. After retirement, she kept busy with her garden, her children and grandchildren, and volunteering with her MCC sewing circle at church.
A few years after Peter’s passing in 1996, she married Abe Kehler, who loved her dearly and with whom she shared many new experiences. He passed away a few years ago, and Mary moved into assisted living at Concordia Village. There, she met new friends in the residents and staff and enjoyed being pampered by having meals made for her.
Mary is survived by her daughter Doreen (Larry) Slashinsky, son Wayne Funk, both of Winnipeg, two grandchildren: Ryan (Krista), Jennifer (Kurtis), and great-grandchildren Averi, Olivia, Kalin, and Sage. Mary is also survived by two sisters, Tina and Lillian (Abe) and one brother Albert (Betty) and many nieces and nephews. Her extended family includes her step-children Ruth (Henry), Darlene (Jake) Lorraine (Dennis), and Ken (Joanne) and all their children and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Glenlawn Funeral Home 455 Lagimodière Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Mary Kehler Nee Leppky 2018..
