After Loreen’s school years she moved to Winnipeg, took business training and was active in both baseball and curling. In 1950, Loreen met Ross, and they were married on May 6, 1952. She was working as a secretary for the army Padre in Fort Osborne in Winnipeg, when she started her traveling days. In 1958, Loreen and Ross moved to another army base in Chilliwack, BC. In 1963, another move, this time to Germany for a three year posting. Having three kids under the age of ten didn’t slow Loreen or Ross. In 1969, three years after their return to Canada, Ross retired having 20 years in the army and got a job with a government agency called Saskatchewan Newstart, in Prince Albert. Loreen was on the road again because she was hired as secretary to the assistant manager, when the family moved to Prince Albert for a 2 year contract. After the Newstart days, Loreen worked for the Federal Penitentiary for a short while and then she completed her federal career working for the RCMP until retirement. All those years of seeming to be always on the move convinced Loreen and Ross to finally settle down in Whelan Bay, SK, where they have resided for the last 20 years. During this time, both retired, they spent 18 winters travelling south to Arizona, Texas and Cuba. This past May of 2018, Loreen and Ross celebrated a notable event, they celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. Loreen will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Ross; her three children, Debra (Spencer McDougald), David and Neil; her grandchildren, Shilo (Stephanie), Lance (Jennifer); her great-grandchildren, Samone and Ryker, Ava.
