In Loving Memory
MOLLICA, Patsy – December 8, 1930-December 20, 2018 – It is with much sadness that we announce the death of our father Patsy. Born in Montreal, Dad came to Welland as a child with his family. Following in his father’s foot-steps, he worked as a brick and stone mason by trade. He also worked at the Page Hersey Tubes before spending several years working as an assessment officer with the Catholic School Board. He married Mary Prioli in August of 1952 and is survived by his children John (Jeanette Rosinski), Tony (Lynne Walters) and Donna Cotnam (Ed). He was the proud poppa of Brodie Cotnam, Tessa Cotnam, Nick Mollica (Ashley Kowalchuk), James Mollica (McKinleigh Dew) and Zachary Mollica. He was the special greatpoppa of Alexis Wilkinson and Paisleigh Mollica. Dad is also survived by his brother Joe (Diane Tessier) and sister Teresa Havran (Mike), and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents John and Jean Mollica, brother Nick Mollica and sisters Mary Saracino (the late Tony) and Jean Ann Cousineau (the late Larry). Dad proudly served the community for many years. He was a member of Welland City Council serving as Ward 5 Alderman for several terms, a member of the Crowland Volunteer Firefighters and Welland Volunteer Firefighters Co. #2 for more than 25 years, Past President of the Niagara District Fire Fighters Association, a longtime member of the Sons of Italy of Canada, a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Francis of Assisi Council 2146 and a Fourth Degree member of Fr. Faustus A. McKenna Council 00873 for over 50 years. He was involved in minor baseball and hockey, serving as President of the Welland Junior Baseball Club for many years. He will be missed by his family and numerous friends in Welland and beyond. The family will receive family and friends at J.J. Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence 19 Young Street, Welland on Thursday December 27th from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at The Parish Community of St. Kevin, 303 Niagara Street, Welland on the morning of Friday December 28th at 10 o’clock. Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Niagara.
