Fred went home to be with the Lord at 11:15 a.m. on Friday, December 21, 2018. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. Fred was born in Franzfeld, Yugoslavia on October 8, 1933. Survived by his wife Ingeborg (nee Jahn), children Gerald (Carolyn), Wilfred (Melanie), Diana (Steve), Darlene, Brenda (Gary), Krista (Roman) and Rick (Beth), grandchildren Jordan, Sierra, David, Rachel (John), Jason, Andrea, Sean, Talia, Joel, Nicholas, Amanda, Kara, Greg (Lauren), Nikki, Connor, Blake, Reece, Tressa and Sara, and his brother Adam (Elisa). Predeceased by his parents Johann and Katharina Scheuermann, and brother John. Fred endured the second World War in Europe, suffered years in a concentration camp, learned the trade of auto mechanic in Europe, then came to Canada – first to Quebec and then Ontario. Fred was proud to become a Canadian citizen. He had a strong faith in Jesus and looked forward to spending eternity in heaven. He was employed at Uniroyal for 30 years, and then enjoyed retirement for 29 years, spending time with family and friends and travelling. His pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. Fred’s family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30-10:15 a.m. on Monday, December 24, 2018 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Funeral Service in the chapel on Monday at 10:30 a.m. Interment Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, charity of choice, or Apostolic Christian Church (Missions) would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
