Obituary of Thelma Thomas
95, Halifax. We are sad to announce the passing of our mom on December 18, 2018. Born in Halifax on March 19th, 1923 to the late Ainsley and Violet (Glazebrook) Marryatt, of Armdale. She was known by her close family and friends as Tally. Thelma grew up on Braeburn Rd. and her first job was a taxi dispatcher for Armdale taxi where she proudly worked for over 20 years. Later, she minded children in her home during the day, a job that gave her great satisfaction and is still friends to this day with some of the children she lovingly cared for. She is survived by son, Reg Marryatt (Joy) Harrietsfield; daughters, Kathy (Kevin) Scanlon, Pleasanton California, Darlene Huq, Lacombe Alberta; 7 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother, Jack Marryatt, Purcells Cove; sisters, Kay (George) Gaduin, Lacombe Alberta, Mary Iceton, Purcells Cove, Patsey (Russell) Prisk, Halifax, Peggy Hart, Halifax and Betty Fripps, Spryfield. She was predeceased by her husband, Harvey Thomas; brothers, Hector, Peter and George Marryatt; sister, Nancy (Bernie) Grady; stepmother, Edith Marryatt; brothers in-law, Bruce, Allan and Bill; sisters in-law, Irene. Cremation has taken place under the direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, where visitation will be held on Saturday, December 22 from 11 AM – 1PM. A celebration of Thelma’s life will follow in the funeral home chapel at 1 PM. In honor of Thelma and her favorite colour, you are invited to wear something red. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the kidney foundation.
