Gerald Arnold “Jake” Rushton
1953-2018
It is with great sadness that we
announce the passing of Gerald Arnold “Jake”
Rushton, 65, of Springhill on Saturday, December 15,
2018 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre after a lengthy
battle with cancer. Born in Springhill, Gerald was a son of
the late Burton and Dorothy (Schlosser) Rushton.
Gerald was well known for his love of
music and the outdoors, especially spending time on his ATV with his
friends and family. He enjoyed being active, playing sports,
and puttering about. He liked to spend time at the
camp. He was always upbeat and a positive person, with a
great sense of humour. Gerald was full of energy and loved being
surrounded by family and friends. He always had a smile on
his face and a joke to tell.
Gerald will be deeply missed by, his
significant other, Donna Wood, of Springhill; two sons, Shawn (Alicia
Adshade) Rushton, Amherst and Christopher (Haley) Rushton, Kentville,
NS; five grandchildren, Adryona, Ethan, Trinity, Alice, and Beatrix;
siblings, Connie Knol, Collingwood, Nancy (Jim) Hatton, Moncton, David
(Bonnie) Rushton, Rodney, Donna (Richard) Harrison, Springhill, Terry
(Kelly) Rushton, Berwick, and Ken (Marg) Lowther, Amherst; two
step-sisters, Nancy (Ross) Baxter, Amherst, and Patsy (Michael)
Tuckey, Douglas Harbour, NB; a step-brother, David (Debbie) MacKay,
Leicester, as well as several close nephews and numerous favourite
nieces.
Besides his parents, Gerald was
predeceased by his step-mother, Doris MacKay, as well as his paternal
grandparents, Asa and Mildred Rushton and his maternal grandparents,
Paul Legere and Gertrude Schlosser.
The family would like to extend their
deepest gratitude to Jake’s special friends, Joe Rushton, John and
Angela Alick, his favourite nurses, Erin Rushton, Jenna Gould and
Lacey Reynolds, as well as the staff of the Moncton Hospital and the
Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre for their compassion and
care.
