Keddy, Alfred “Joseph” – Age 92, of Elderbank, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2018, in Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital. Born in Elderbank, he was a son of the late Alfred and Sylvia (Grant) Keddy.
Joe is survived by his wife of 65 years, Freda (Kaulback); children, Shane (Bonnie), Joel, Lisa (Brian), Troy (Shanda); grandchildren, Seth, Justin, Holly, Kaitlyn, Avery, Madison, Tyler, Spencer, Jordan; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Reg, Fred; sister, Anna, twin sister, Isabel.
Joe and his brother, Fred, owned and operated a dairy farm and trucking business for many years. He and Freda enjoyed good times at dances with many cherished friends. Joe was very much a family and community-minded man who was known for his wonderful sense of humour as well as his caring and giving nature. His door was always open to many friends and his quick wit will be missed by all. Joe will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather, as well as a person of high character in the community. He was someone to always be counted on.
Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held in Elderbank Cemetery. The family will meet friends for a reception on Wednesday at 2 p.m., downstairs in St. Andrew’s United Church, Elderbank. Memorial donations may be made to Lung Association of Nova Scotia or St. Andrew’s United Church.
