Roy Francis Brown
June 8, 1945 – December 4, 2018
Roy Francis Joseph Brown
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our Husband, Father, Brother and Grandfather, Roy Francis Brown, 73, of Halifax, N.S. on December 4th, 2018.
Roy was one of the strongest, determined and persistent person we all knew and loved who fought a long hard battle with cancer until the bitter end. Roy had an interesting and fulfilling life, starting at a young age with a love for boat racing with his Dad. Wonderful memories with the Dartmouth Power Boat Club and travelling the boat racing circuit for many years.
His love for motor sports directed him to car racing where he loved to be a spectator and then enjoyed being part of the pit crew.
Roy’s next adventure was collecting antique cars and restoring them. He became a life member of the Antique Car Club and along this journey made many lifelong friendships. His love for old cars, (because we all know Roy was lost in the 50’s), would put a smile on his face. He worked in the demolition business along with his father most of his life and also with Roy Judge where they became best friends.
Roy is survived by his wife of 50 years Ada (Short), Sons Daniel, Shawn (Alicia), Grandchildren Corrie, Jordan, Hayley, Austin, Alivia, Sisters Linda (Brian), Claire (Bill), Beaty (Peter/Rabbit) and several Nieces and Nephews and his best buddy Max, his dog. He was predeceased by infant brother James Arthur and beloved parents Maggie and Francis (Tex) Brown. The family would like to thank all the staff at palliative care at the VG Hospital.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr. Halifax.
All are invited to meet on Sunday Dec.9th, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm to celebrate Roy’s life with his family and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, Dec. 10th at 10 am in the Chapel at Snow’s Funeral Home.
