It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Stasyk (nee Hovelkamp) announces her passing on December 2, 2018 at the age of 85 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Glen (Roberta) of Fort Saskatchewan and her daughter, Darlene of St. Albert; as well as her grandchildren, Kendra of Edmonton and Josh (Shannon) of Sherwood Park; great-grandsons, Logan and Parker Reschke; sister, Rose Cassidy of Nanaimo, BC; sisters-in-law, Alice Hovelkamp of St. Paul and Rose Strobl of Lamont; numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Nick; parents, Gerhard and Antonia Hovelkamp; brothers Gerhard “Jerry”, Berthold “Bert”, George, Joseph, and Ewald; and sisters, Elizabeth Lueken and Hilda Powers.
Mary will be remembered for her love of her immediate family and her large extended family, her “tell it like it is” manner, and her ability to feed a great meal to any number of people with no notice.
At Mary’s request a private family memorial service will be held. Cremation has taken place. Flowers gratefully declined. If desired, donations may be made to the Lung Association, Heart & Stroke Foundation, or a charity of one’s choice c/o 5626 – 51 Street, St. Paul, AB T0A 3A0.
