1932-2018
Gillis, Isabel Mills, 85,
formerly of Orangedale, passed away on November 23, 2018, in the R.K.
MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish.
Born in New
Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late William and Edith (Wells)
Busby.
Isabel raised her family in Orangedale with her husband,
Lauchie, and she enjoyed the simple life on the farm. A proud
housekeeper, she enjoyed a good cup of tea and made some of the finest
biscuits Cape Breton had to offer. Isabel always had time for her many
friends and had been active in her church.
She is survived by her son, Neil (Kathy), Antigonish;
grandchildren, Brian (Steena), Stephen, and Jason, and Ashley, Ryan
(Kristy), Erin (Chris); two great-grandchildren; and son-in-law, Doug
McCaffery, Montreal.
Predeceased by her husband, Lauchie, daughters, Edith
McCaffery and Christine Gillis; sister, Marion Urquhart; and brothers,
Edward, John, and Harold.
Cremation has taken place, and a funeral service will be held
Wednesday in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish,
at 10:00am. Burial in Cape Breton in the spring.
Family flowers only, please. In lieu of flowers, donations to
the charity of your choice appreciated.
Isabel’s family would like to thank Dr. William
Booth and the staff of the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home for the
wonderful compassion and care they provided Isabel.
