Sympathies message

  1. With my deepest sympathy, and regrets my heart goes out to my Indian friends up north on the loss of Harry. I pray for you Sheila who lost your partner, and whom I love dearly: I pray for Harry’s mom, Sisters, brothers, children, and friends on the loss of someone that can never be replaced.
In 1986 I had the pleasure to meet Harry and his family for the first time as my brother John, friend John F. and I where invited to do some fishing at Hunters Point. Beyond the fact that your entire family opened their doors, hearts, and lives to us with grace, we had the pleasure of spending most of our visit with Harry as he toted us around the bush. This is an experience I will never forget and will always cherish and often reflect upon especially when looking at the many photos taken.
Although we get older and can no longer always do what we wish, nor be where we would love to be I will always remember my time with Harry, and the friendship cast. In our minds we often want to go back and relive these special moments, but we know we can not go back; however, in my heart I never left. After around seven years of regular trips north to spend time friends, life’s directions had different routs, and the trips stopped. Always with plans to someday return.
Although time still poses its problems and dreams still bring me north, on occasion, through an email to John, a phone call, a conversation with Dan about a recent trip, or sometimes a visit from Clarence, Jimmy or Steve I’m reminded of my friends. While I do not know from here where I will go, I do know that for one last time I had the pleasure to spend time with Harry. This occasion was just over a year ago when Harry, Sheila, Brenda, Dave, and Clarence came down for Dan’s daughters wedding. As I’m talking with the brides grandparents out of the crowed pokes Harry’s face all smiles as he cries out “Pike” then as I comment and shake his hand right behind is Sheila. I drop Harry’s hand and give Sheila a hug then I hear how about us and there is Brenda and Dave. Once again with my friends I have not seen for about twenty-five years. I am overwhelmed with joy. On this evening I had the greatest time rekindling these bonds as if a day laps of time had not past from our last days together. Although sadden that this would be the last time I would see Harry, I am eternally grateful that had this time. Well spent.
    Keith (Pike)
