Obituary of Lester Payne
Regretfully, we announce the peaceful passing of Lester Kenneth Payne. Lester passed in his home in Bishop’s Falls on Tuesday, November 13th, 2018 at the age of 74.
He was pre-deceased by his parents Ivy & Malcolm Payne, Sisters Sadie Beck, Nellie Brace, Pauline Pantano, Dulcie Thompson, Anne Gardner and Lillian Brown and leaves to mourn his wife of 48 years Evelyn, son Darrell (Dana), his three grandsons Travis, Clark and Garrett, Siblings George (Maxine) Payne & Doreen Jones and a large circle of other relatives and friends.
Lester retired from Browning Harvey Ltd. in 2005, as a Shipper with over 30 years of service.
Lester loved Eve, his family, and sports. Lester had a lifelong passion for hockey, that he played, coached and watched since boyhood but his greatest joy in the world was to joke with anyone he met. Lester spread laughter his whole life, with his honest smile and a simple “How’s ya gettin on now?” greeting.
Public visitation will be on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 and 9:00 pm, with the funeral services scheduled for Friday, November 16that 1:00 pm at the Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle in Bishop’s Falls, and Pentecostal Cemetery, Sunset Drive.
His pallbearers are David Brace, Harold Curtis, PJ (Jimmy) Gardner, Kevin Healey, Davey Simmons and Dennis Thompson.
Donations can be made in his memory to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
