Play Tribute Movie
On November 4, 2018 Amid the gentle sounds of hymns and Christian music wrapped in the loving arms of her family, Mabel Elizabeth McKinnon peacefully passed from this leg of her journey into a new adventure free from pain and struggle in the gentle arms of her heavenly father.
Everyone who touched Mabel’s life left with a piece of her heart and a deep knowing of her loving, playful, fun loving Christian sprit. Her family and her friends were her life. To say she was well loved would be the biggest understatement, she was the matriarch of a massive extended family and everyone loved her beyond what words could express.
Mabel was the daughter of the late William John and Elizabeth (Chipman) Russell, and the wife of the late Joseph Adrian McKinnon. She is survived by her daughters Sharon Rose Acker, Cheryl Lyne MacKinnon as well as her granddaughters Alexondria Krystina and Keileigh Elizabeth; brothers Bill, Bob, Donald, Charlie, Arthur and James Madden; sisters Susan, Gladys and Frances. Predeceased by brothers Melvin, George and Hayward; sisters Beatrice and Carol
Visitation will be held at Patten Funeral Home Thursday November 8 from 6-7 for family and 7-9 for all, with funeral services at the Salvation Army on Friday November 9 at 1100am.
Donations can be made to the heart and stroke foundation, and Kidney foundation, and the Glace Bay Salvation Army.
