Phyllis Margaret Guy (Woodworth)
It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of
Phyllis Margaret Guy (nee Woodworth), age 88, on
Saturday, November 3rd, 2018 surrounded by her family.
Phyllis was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother,
grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend.
Born in Welsford, Nova Scotia, on August 8th, 1930, Phyllis
was the eldest daughter of Kenneth and Thelma Woodworth
(nee Ward).
In 1951, Phyllis married the love of her life, Rex Geoffrey
Guy. Together they had three daughters, Joanne, Linda and
Patricia. Phyllis was a supportive and dedicated Naval wife
throughout their 55 years of marriage and always a loving
and devoted mother to her girls. Together they relocated
several times, moving to England, Ontario, British Columbia,
Northwest Territories and Nova Scotia.
In 1982, Phyllis and Rex retired to the valley where their
home became a place to host large family gatherings. Her
most important and cherished moments were spent
surrounded by family.
Known as Nana to all of her grandchildren, she shared her
affection and love of life. Her family was her pride and joy
and their hearts will forever for be grateful for the lasting
memories. Phyllis made the world a brighter and better place
for all who knew her, always filling it with laughter and
special moments.
Predeceased by Rex in 2006, Phyllis is survived by her
daughters, Joanne (Chris Espinel), son Nico; Linda (Ronald
Thibault), sons Michael, Jonathan and daughter Laura;
Patricia (John Tupper) daughters Emma, Kathryn, Olivia,
Stephanie and Ashley; several great-grandchildren, nieces
and nephews, brother Charles Woodworth (Betty), and sister
Erdeena Brannon.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to
the doctors, nurses and staff of Sullivan’s Lane in Parkstone
for their care, kindness and compassion. Also special
thanks to Chris Heggelin, who started out babysitting Phyllis’
daughters and has been part of the family ever since.
There will be no visitation and the family will have a private
memorial service at a later date.
