It is with heavy hearts, the family announce the passing of Evelyn on October 26, 2018. Loving wife to the late Rudy. Dear mother to Shelley Tocher (Alex) and Barbara Kosterski (Ted). Cherished Nana to Kayla (Ryan), Mallory (Sean), Shane (Liz), Victoria, Karen and Ryan (Mary). Adoring great Nana to Nolan, Luke, Gwen and Oliver-Finn. Sister to Gladys Elian (the late William) and David McNaught (the late Marilyn).
Born in Kincaid Saskatchewan on September 19, 1934, Evelyn moved to Hamilton to begin her nursing training at the Hamilton General Hospital where she had an extraordinary 35 year career. She was a proud and active local executive member of the Ontario Nurses Assoc. She was a practical sharp women with sass, class and finesse. Her interests were wide; she loved sewing, reading, camping, travel, trivia and baking. She was the Cheesecake Boss; a staple at family gatherings. Evelyn loved her well-knit neighbourood of 58 years and they loved her. In the later years, she enthusiastically enjoyed Steel Magnolias Red Hat Society, monthly card group and the street club. She brought people together to love and laugh and extended the meaning of family to everyone she met.
Please join the family in celebrating Evelyn’s life at the Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Ave. E. on Thursday, November 1st from 12 noon until time of service at 1 p.m. in the chapel.
