Velma Lovestone
Lovestone, Velma: December 31, 1927 – Neville, Saskatchewan – October 15, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta. Velma Lovestone (nee Donnelly) passed away peacefully in Calgary, AB on Monday, October 15, 2018 at the age of 90, with her family by her side. Velma grew up in Neville, SK, and as a young woman moved to Swift Current, where she met her husband Marlyn Lovestone. After Marlyn’s death in 1951, and her father’s death in 1952, along with her mother, son, and brothers, Velma moved to Victoria, BC. She worked for the BC Telephone Company for thirty-two years until her retirement in 1984. She is survived by her only son, Lon (Janet) Lovestone; her four beloved grand-daughters, Cheri (Ryan) Tombs, Stacey (David) Hayes, Jennifer (Cory) Evaskavich, Christina (Todd) Whitehead; and seven great-grand-children. She also leaves her brother, Ray; sister-in-law and close friend, Lorraine Donnelly; sisters-in-law, Marlys Lovestone and Brenda Donnelly; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Velma was predeceased by her husband, Marlyn; her parents, May and Roy Donnelly; brothers, Floyd and Lonnie; and sisters, Ethel, Edith, and Edna. Velma will be remembered fondly by all that knew her, for her great smile. For many years she enjoyed wonderful times celebrating special occasions with her family and friends. She always cherished these special occasions, in particular Christmas, St. Patrick’s Day, and birthdays. The Lovestone family would like to extend their sincere thanks to all the staff at The Beverly Centre and their thoughtful care during the last two years. As per Velma’s wishes, no service was held and she has been laid to rest next to her husband, Marlyn, at Mount Pleasant Burial Park in Swift Current.
