It is with tremendous sadness we announce the passing of our most beautiful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Jean Alice Lefebvre. Jean passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, October 12, 2018. She was predeceased by her parents Ethel and Andrew Wingert, and sister Andrea Wingert. Left to cherish Jean’s memory is her husband of 61 years Laurier “Sonny”; children Darcie (Dave), Pete (Jody) and Dean (Bernie); grandchildren Tyler (Kelley), Tara (Molly), Joshua (Azlynn), Dylan (Lauren), Chloe and Trey; and great-grandchildren Kit, Tate and Athenea. Jean will also be lovingly remembered by her special cousin Louise, God-daughter Sarah, and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. She is forever in our hearts.
Jean was born in Estevan, Saskatchewan. She was raised in Bienfait and Oxbow, then moved to Sedley in 1947. It was in Sedley where she met the love of her life, Sonny. Jean and Sonny were married on November 24, 1956. They settled in Regina shortly after, where they welcomed their first child Darcie in 1957, followed by Pete in 1962 and Dean in 1963.
Jean and Sonny moved to their home on 8th Avenue North in Regina in 1963. It wasn’t long before their neighbours became cherished friends. They enjoyed many get-togethers while raising their families, and remained close friends well after the kids were grown.
Jean and Sonny enjoyed their winters in Mesa, Arizona where they made many lifelong friendships. Their winter calendars were booked solid with dances, socials and happy hours. Jean was known for sharing a funny joke or story at their social gatherings. She LOVED a good joke and she loved to laugh!
Jean was a kind and loving woman who always welcomed others with a warm hand and a gentle smile. Her family meant the world to her, and she will forever be remembered for her love for her children and grandchildren. Family Christmas dinners were filled with all of her wonderful dishes and desserts. It was her favourite time of year and she would decorate the house well before December 1st, while listening to her Elvis Presley Christmas album. Jean loved The King!
We extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and many nurses at Regina General Hospital, who gave the most compassionate care to our wife and mother.
All friends and family are welcome to join us for a luncheon Celebrating Jean’s Life on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in Christ The King Parish Hall, 3239 Garnet Street, Regina, SK.
