Obituary Overview
SKINNER, Lillian Bernice (nee Smith)
May 17, 1921 – October 10, 2018
Bernice, known by friends and family as Berny, passed away peacefully in her 98th year. Predeceased by her husband Harold Skinner (1991) and sister-in-law June Taggart. Berny was the oldest of four siblings. She is survived by her brother Bruce Smith, his wife Marion and sister-in-law Dorothy Smith and predeceased by her brother Ross Smith and sister June Edge (Smith) and parents J. Byron and Daisie Smith. Berny is survived by her four children Pamela Crookall (Ottawa), Brenda Skinner and Marvin Laidman (Binbrook), Karen Skinner (Canmore), Steven Skinner and Joan Dodds (London). She loved and was loved by her seven grandchildren and spouses Andrew (Jessie), Christopher and Jake (Kaila Rudolph) Crookall, Justin (Nikki) and Tyler Samms, Candice (Rob) Stark and Stephanie Dodds and two great-grandchildren Olive and James Crookall. She had a keen interest in and fondness for her many extended family members, especially cousins, nieces and nephews. Family, friends, love of music and dance were the main interests and sources of joy in Bernice’s life. Her keen sense of humour remained with her despite the progression of Alzheimers over many years. The family extends gratitude to the care staff at Marion Villa. Cremation has taken place. There was a private family interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, London. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to CNIB or to the Alzheimer Society.
