Clifford Dawson passed away with family by his side on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at the age of 93. He was the youngest of 5 children born to Albert & Mary Dawson.
As a child he lived on Second Avenue in Trail, then Fruitvale for a while, then moved to Oasis in 1945. At the young age of 19, he went overseas and was captured and spent 6 months as a Prisoner of War in Germany. Thankfully, he came home, got married and worked in the tank rooms at Cominco for 40 years, while building his own home and raising 4 children with his wife, Audrey.
He was a hard worker, loving husband, father, father-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and neighbour. He was involved with the Oasis Water Works, Trail Fish & Wildlife and awarded for work, he & others did at Murphy Creek. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #11 Trail, and the Canadian Scottish Regiment. He volunteered his time on many occasions and delivered Meals-on-Wheels. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, bowling, spending time at Christina Lake and being with family.
He was predeceased by his parents, his siblings: Mildred, Albert, Lillian and Edward and his wife of 64 years, Audrey (nee Carlson) in 2013 & many others.
Survived by his children: Richard (Linda), David, Cheryl (Robert), Keith (Karen), his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers-in law, sisters-in law, nieces, nephews and friends.
A Service will be held on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at 3:00 pm at St. Andrew’s and St. George’s Anglican Church in Trail with Canon Neil Elliot presiding, along with a Last Post Service presided by Legion representative, Neil Jarvie. Legion members please attend. A reception will follow in the Church Hall. Bill Clark of Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
