Myrtle Velda Clyde King
1929-2018
KING, Myrtle Velda Clyde – Age 89, Port Hawkesbury
passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2018, in the Port Hawkesbury
Nursing Home. Born in Louisbourg she was a daughter of the late
Charles and Mary (Wilson) Beaver.
Myrtle was a bookkeeper by profession but spent most of her
adult life as a stay-at-home Mom. She was proud of her Louisbourg
heritage and loved visiting and entertaining family over the years.
She enjoyed a good laugh and was always up for a road trip. Myrtle had
a great partner in Leonard and they went on many adventures as Charles
and Brenda were growing up. She adored her four grandchildren and
would take every opportunity to spend time with each one of them. She
loved hearing their stories and was proud of their accomplishments.
The family would like to extend sincere
appreciation and thanks to all of Myrtle’s caregivers, in particular
past and present staff of the Port Hawkesbury Nursing
Home.
Surviving are her daughter, Brenda (Bob) MacEachern, Port
Hastings; son, Charles (Fiona) King, Cleveland; brother, Everett
(Greta) Beaver, Louisbourg; grandchildren, Cameron, Heather and
Courtney. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard; granddaughter,
Nicole; sisters, Catherine Harris, Haroldine MacKay; brothers, John,
Everett in infancy, Harold, Hughie, Tommy, Donald, Melvin and
Duncan.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday in Dennis
Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service will be 2
p.m. Sunday from St. Mark’s United Church, Port Hawkesbury
with Nan Corrigan DM officiating. Burial will follow in Southbrook
Cemetery, Port Hawkesbury.
