Walter MacLean 2018

JAMES WALTER ALLEN MACLEAN
Walter was born in Edmonton on July 20, 1924 and passed away on September 19, 2018, at the Westlock Long Term Care Center. He is survived by Agnes (Donald), his wife of 59 years, 3 sons (Robb, Jim, Ron) and one daughter (Julie), 5 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Two weeks shy of Dad’s 19th birthday he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy. He was a telegraphist during WW2 alongside a crew of 130 on the HMCS Wentworth. His unit was demobilized on November 14, 1945. Dad then worked in the fisheries in Hay River and Windsor, where many close friendships were forged. Next he chose to pursue a career in education. He was employed by the Edmonton Public Schools until his retirement in 1987. Dad was a devoted member of the Legion for 63 years, and also enjoyed many years as a member of Pembina Toastmasters Club. Dad will be fondly remembered for his passion of knowledge, proper grammar, humor and his love of birds. You have been set free now Dad, so spread your wings and soar . . . . WE LOVE YOU.
At Dads’ request, no service will be held and donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Walter MacLean 2018..
