Jennie Jean Holder 2018

Obituary Overview
Together Again Jennie (Jean) Holder
Jennie “Jean” Holder passed away on August 27, 2018 at Oliver Lodge in Saskatoon at 91 years of age.
She was predeceased by her husband Warren “Red” Holder, her parents William G. Stimpson & Ruby Mae Stimpson (King), and her siblings Thora, Art, Lloyd, Ted, Harry and twin sister June.
Jean was born on September 29, 1926 in the Asquith district. Her father William was a Station Agent for the Canadian National Railway and she spent her youth moving frequently around rural Saskatchewan as her father was posted to different locations. She lived in many places including Glaslyn, Kenaston, Bladworth, Kinistino, Weldon, Radisson, and Brancepeth among others.
Jean married her husband Warren “Red” Holder in 1948 and they made their home in Saskatoon together for 67 years. Jean and Red spent many years volunteering their time with the Kiwanis Club of Riversdale in Saskatoon. Kiwanis was a very important part of their life and they travelled all over the world in service of the organization.
Jean was a quiet, kind person who loved nothing more than being in the company of her family. She proudly prepared large meals for her family every Sunday until the last few years of her life. Jean was a fiercely independent person who always put a great deal of thought into gently caring for those close to her. She was also known for her quiet sense of humour and for being incredibly stoic.
Jean is lovingly remembered by her sister Beryl (Clive) Harris, her sister-in-law Jean Stimpson, and children Jerry (Rubi) Holder, June (Fraser) Sutherland, Larry (Cheryle) Holder, and Deb Holder; her grandchildren Magel Sutherland (Trent Norman), Kim Sutherland, Chris Sutherland, Justin Wionzek (Christin Whitehead), Kyle (Camille) Wionzek, Michael Holder, and Christina Holder; and her great-grandchildren Ava, Luke, Drew, Marley & Zoey.
Jean passed away from natural causes with her family by her side. We wish to thank the staff of Luther Riverside Terrace and Oliver Lodge for their care and support of Jean over the last three years. We would also like to extend special thanks to Dr. Paula Schwann and Dr. Jodi Spelay for their compassionate care and advocacy on behalf of Jean in the last years of her life. We have been profoundly grateful for this support.
Words are not adequate to capture the impact Jean had on her family. She was fiercely loved and will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Jean’s life will be held on Saturday September 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Park Funeral Home, 311 Third Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jean’s name in support of the Saskatchewan Professional Firefighter’s Burn Fund or the Kiwanis Club of Riversdale, 125 Avenue B N, Saskatoon, SK, S7L 1C9.
