Obituary Overview
Alexander Miller
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alexander Fredrick Miller on August 19, 2018 at the age of 87 years. Alex was born on March 1, 1931 in Prince Albert, SK to Fred and Mary Jane Miller. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. Alex spent most of his life in Prince Albert, and attended Queen Mary School and then P.A.C.I. for his secondary education. He worked at a number of jobs before hiring on with Canadian National Railways in July of 1952. He held several positions with CN until his retirement in 1988. Alex joined the #38 Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets in 1945, rising to the rank of Flight Sgt. During that time he completed an exchange tour of the southern US states. He received his private pilot’s licence in 1953. Alex was a member and elder of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Prince Albert until the church was dissolved in June of 2017. He was also a member of the Kinistino Mason’s Lodge #1. Alex was predeceased by his father, Fredrick, in 1976; his sister, Mary, in 1989; his mother, Mary Jane, in 1995; and his niece, Janice, in 2015. He is survived by his sister, Margaret (Clarence) Bjork of Coquitlam, BC; his nephew, Greg Bjork of Coquitlam, BC; and his nieces, Sandra Russell of Pitt Meadows, BC, Karen Steedsman of Prince Albert, SK, and Debbie Steedsman of Rocky Mountain House, AB; as well as several friends and relatives. He will be greatly missed. We wish to thank the staff at Jubilee Lodge in Kinistino for the excellent, loving care Alex received there from June 1st of 2016 until his passing in August of 2018. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Saskatchewan Lung Association or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. Alex’s funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at River Park Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens.
