Melvin Bain 2018

Melvin (Mel) John Bain of Kirkland Lake, ON born December 31, 1942, passed away peacefully at age 75 at the Kirkland and District Hospital on August 3, 2018 with family by his side. Mel is predeceased by his wife (Ruth, 2001), his parents Harold and Verna, his siblings Morton, Donald, Dennis, and Louella (Dave Giguere). He will be sadly missed by his wife Madeleine, brother Stephen (Jill), sister-in-law Shirley (Dennis), children Nanci-Lynne (Craig), Melanie (Dan), Scott (Liz), and Kyle (Isabelle), grandchildren Ashton Cox (Janelle), Jordan Osborne (Alysse), Jennifer Osborne (Harrison), Ryleigh Cox, Lee Rowe, and Adrien Peddie, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mel was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Mel spent twenty-five years with Adams Mine until its closure. He enjoyed camping, fishing, playing pool with the guys, frequented the local coffee shops with Madeleine, and showing off his 1929 Nash on sunny afternoons.
Mel was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He was always excited to hear the newest stories they had to tell. He found many reasons to smile when visiting with his youngest grandson of ten months and always looked forward to the next visit.
Special thanks to Dr. Kurki, Dr. Moore, oncology nurse Stephanie, the palliative care unit, and the rest of the staff at Kirkland and District Hospital.
Cremation has taken place and a private interment will follow at a later date.
